Utah has one of the highest uninsured healthcare rates in the country. Thousands of uninsured in Salt Lake County are in need of psychiatric services.
Uninsured children are particularly vulnerable because mental health problems result in long-term skill deficits, school drop-outs, and an increased risk of suicide.
The Polizzi Clinic provides quality outpatient psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults. The clinic only serves low-income, uninsured patients struggling with mental illness who can’t afford services elsewhere, providing a critical safety net that wouldn’t exist otherwise.
Services are designed to establish patients quickly, stabilize symptoms, and then transition the patient to primary care at an affordable health clinic. The Polizzi Clinic offers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and on-site patient advocacy. They ensure patients get access to needed medications and work with Patient Assistance Programs and local pharmacies to find the best solution for the patient.
SelectHealth recognizes the compassionate care provided by the Polizzi Clinic as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
This has been a wonderful opportunity to generate greater awareness of our organization and the services that are available for those in need. You can check out the audio recording here.
